Learning & Skill Development

The Medical Office Micro-Credential is comprised of three courses: Medical Terminology (OFT116), Medical Forms and Billing (OFT135), and Medical Office Procedures (OFT244).

Topics covered in these four courses include:

  • Learn and apply medical terminology to various health care situations
  • Apply medical billing and insurance terminology to various insurance forms
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of software for medical billing, basic accounting, and insurance claims
  • Learn about medical law and ethics, preparation and management of records, telephone procedures and appointment scheduling, and health insurance and billing
  • Develop soft skills needed to be successful as a medical office assistant including punctuality, acceptance of personal responsibility, teamwork, medical office protocols, HIPPA regulations, good customer service skills
